New OrangeFS Release
The OrangeFS Team released updates (version 2.8.5) on January 31 for OrangeFS and its Windows Client. Both are available for download at the OrangeFS.org Download Page. Version 2.8.5 provides many bug fixes and stability enhancements, including kernel module support for newer kernels.

This year's International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis SC11 (Nov 12-18) will be a busy one for OrangeFS and Omnibond.
OrangeFS will be highlighted in several partner exhibits, including Clemson University (booth #5401) and Dell (booth #2040), with a presentation by Dr. Walt Ligon, founding PVFS/OrangeFS Architect.
Come visit the Omnibond exhibit (booth #128) and learn more about OrangeFS, including its new Windows connectivity and the upcoming Version 2.9 release.
Omnibond will also sponsor the popular Beowulf Bash (Nov 14, 9 PM, Seattle Aquarium) and the OrangeFS BOF (Nov 15, 5:30 PM, Room TCC 202), which is titled OrangeFS/PVFS: Developments, Direction and Discussion.

Drawing Winner Announced
Eric Andersen accepts iPad 2 from Ray Keys, Marketing Manager for Omnibond, at BrainShare 2011.
Omnibond recently participated in BrainShare (Oct 10-14, 2011), highlighting its partnership with Novell and NetIQ on the exhibit floor. Leading up to the show, we encouraged others to attend by offering a special registration code that added a $50 dinner certificate to use at the annual Salt Lake City event. Each attendee using the code was also entered into a drawing for a free iPad 2! Winner Eric Andersen is shown above.

With the new Windows Client, harnessing the power and speed of OrangeFS is as simple or as powerful as you need it to be. For scale-out storage access from the Windows platform, simply map a network drive. For high-performance parallel computing, get full programmatic access with standard parallel programming APIs, such as MPICH2. Authentication and user mapping include LDAP and X.509 certificates.

Omnibond Creates New Driver for Novell
To complement its recent release of Identity Manager 4.0 Advanced Edition, Novell released a new Standard Edition on April 19. Omnibond's numerous driver enhancements to this market-leading solution included an entirely new driver that enables a Blackboard Learn system to synchronize its account data with Identity Manager.

The recent SC10 (Nov 13-19, 2010) was a must-attend event for discovering the latest breakthroughs in applied supercomputing.
Members of the OrangeFS team were available on the
exhibit floor in the booth for
Clemson University's Partnership for High Performance Computing Systems.
The Clemson Partnership is a consortium of advocates for cyber-enabled research— anchored by the University's internationally ranked Palmetto Cluster, which runs on the OrangeFS high-performance parallel file system.

Novell Releases Identity Manager 4.0
